With having dry and sensitive skin it’s incredibly hard to find a product that will stop you from wanting to peel your face off. I’ve tried many creams, lotions and potions and none of them cure the flaking and uncomfortable skin that I have, so I was pretty excited when the gorgeous people of Escentual sent me the Avène Extremely Gentle Cleanser to try. I have heard of the brand and know that my mum has tried this before, but I never thought of trying it out myself, until now. The brand describes this product as being an ‘extremely gentle cleanser’ as well as paraben, fragrance and colouring agent free, all of this gets a big thumbs up from me.

The bottle is filled with a pearlescent liquid which is of a gel type consistency. All you have to do is apply the product to your face using your fingertips, work the product in and then wipe off with a cotton wool pad or tissue. The cleanser most certainly took off dirt, make-up and impurities that I had on my face and I didn’t have any irritation or redness which I’d usually get if I used face wipes to remove my make-up. There was also no tightness or drying to the skin which most products do to my skin and I didn’t have to wait very long for the product to dry either. With it being so gentle there wasn’t any residue left on my skin leaving it feeling fresh and cleansed. It’s a perfect product to use in the morning, as it acts as a base which leaves your make-up sitting nicely on as well as a night-time cleanser before you fall to sleep.

I really enjoyed using this product and knowing that there were no ingredients which would cause irritation to my skin made my love it even more. I would certainly recommend this product to those who have the same skin type as me as well as those who wear light coverage make up – If you do wear anything more than it’s best to use this as a base in the morning before make-up, as it’s very light and not enough to remove all make up from medium – full coverage users.
