. My Week Off ..

This week has been full of fun, laughs, shopping and a new pet! I had booked off 5 days from work to not only catch up on my sleep, but to also spend time with the boyfriend who I have pretty much neglected with having to work long hours. It was also his birthday too and it was nice to just focus on us for a little while.

Sunday

I literally slept for the WHOLE day and really don’t know why, but usually if I’ve slept for that long then I’ve not been sleeping properly that week and with working different shifts that week then it’s no surprise my body was a little bit messed up. We decided to crack on with some washing and cleaning and then sat down in front of the telly with a home cooked meal and cuddle’s

Monday

We decided to go for a long walk down to our local TK Maxx, as well as visiting the Range and B&Q to get some paint for the flat. We’re currently focusing on getting our living room finished and just starting to make it look like a home J I also received my package from Tammy in America – If you want to see what she sent me then click HERE. As she had sent me some Yankee Candles, I decided that I wanted to go out and grab some more, so I went and purchased Fluffy Towels, Baby Powder, Strawberry Butter cream & Under the Palms. I really do have a Yankee Candle addiction.

Tuesday

We were going to visit Brody’s breakfast diner which is an all you can eat service in Exeter, but sadly it was jam packed and as we had a tattoo appointment we didn’t want to risk it, so settled for a breakfast in one of our local wetherspoons. After breakfast and also buying some sweets from Mr Simms Sweet Shoppe we went to go get our tattoos done. John had another horror character added to his leg sleeve and I got a heartagram. A heartagram is known for the symbol used by the band HIM, but also as a modern ying yang meaning love & hate, life & death etc. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought and I’m pretty glad I managed to grit my teeth through it.

Wednesday

We fancied a day indoors and catching up with some housework & decorating. It’s was nice to have a day getting the home back to normality and I was surprised at getting things done. I also baked my first every quiche (no soggy bottom!!) and also a New York Baked Cheesecake. Both tasted amazing and I’m certainly going to bake those again, but possibly using different fillings.

Thursday

It was John’s birthday and being the big kids that we are, he decided he wanted to open his presents from me after midnight. I got him a wrestling t-shirt, some smellies as well as, a poster which I made with using pictures with him and his friend. We spent another day in town getting a few bits and pieces for holiday and visited Hubbox for some food. Hubbox is an amazing burger joint in Exeter and although it’s small in size the food had amazing flavour. I had the “Hot Chick” which was chicken fried in buttermilk topped with butternut mayo in a smooth tasting bun. John had the “Big Kahuna” which was 2 4oz beef burgers topped with BBQ pulled pork and an onion ring. I also ordered a side of hand cut fries and John went for the chilli cheese fries. We both left with full tummies and happy memories from another birthday spent together.

Oh! We also went and got our new pet..... DYLAN! He is a goldfish and although some people might think “oh it’s only a goldfish “it’s still a little animal and we wanted something together that we could call our own. He’s adorable and we’re hoping to get him a little friend, as he’s pretty lonely. Hopefully with this responsibility we can start looking to get a dog in the future.

This week has been fun, well deserved & needed. I love days where you don’t have to get up when your alarm tells you and you don’t have to dread about work, but to just go with the flow.

  1. I've always thought the heartagram was beautiful. So, great choice!

Once upon a time, circa 2001/2002 (give or take a few years, I'm old and senile), I was a huge HIM fan. I never stopped liking them; I just kind of forgot about them somewhere along the way. Anywaaay, I wanted a tattoo of the heartagram, too. But I never got one. I think I'll get "There's a light that never goes out" somewhere on my back, or up my forearm, instead, because I love The Smiths. I've been a fan since I was 7 (I was a morbid 2nd grader, haha).

Anyway, I've uploaded a picture of the bunny cake to my blog! I just added it to the entry about our swap. :-)
